Water is safe for drinking

Golden State Water Company has served Simi Valley for more than 53 years. The water we provide has consistently met all state and federal quality standards, which are designed specifically to protect public health. The State Water Resources Control Board’s Division of Drinking Water (DDW)—comprised of highly trained scientists, doctors and water-quality experts— closely monitors all water testing and has confirmed that Golden State Water’s water is safe for all consumers, regardless of gender or age.

During the last month, a small group of people have been spreading misinformation to the community and city leaders, making false claims about the local water service provided by Golden State Water. Nothing is more important than ensuring Simi Valley residents receive clean, safe drinking water, and we take this very seriously. Accordingly, we are offering this correction so people can be reassured and informed.

Golden State Water and DDW would take immediate action if there were any water quality or safety concerns. The state’s water experts have confirmed that assertions regarding perchlorate and radioactive materials in our system are unfounded.

To maintain a high level of transparency with customers, Golden State Water publishes annual consumer confidence reports addressing water quality and posts real-time testing data on our website. Additionally, all of Golden State Water’s test results and water-quality data are posted on the DDW’s website at www.waterboards.ca.gov/ drinking_ water/programs. DDW is a great resource for customers who want to get the facts on water-quality standards and Golden State Water’s consistent history of compliance.

Golden State Water takes great pride in our long history of providing high-quality water and exceptional service in Simi Valley. Customers who would like additional information on local water quality are welcome to learn more at www.gswater.com/simi-valley.
