Striking down Roe was wrong

I’m a Scout with local Troop 1633, and as a part of my communications merit badge I elected to write to an editor of a local newspaper about a subject of my choice, that subject being the recent Supreme Court ruling on abortion.

With the overturning of Roe v. Wade, I became upset with the Supreme Court’s ruling. I firmly believe this is one of the dumbest, if not the dumbest, decision the Supreme Court has made. For one, many people don’t want to have a child or more children for many reasons, such as not being able to financially support a child.

What I am most upset about in all this is the fact that the Supreme Court’s action could result in adolescent girls giving birth to babies, including babies as a result of rape and, in some cases, the child will die while giving birth.

I believe that instead of forcing females to have children to “save the children,” they should actually save the children we have already and make stricter gun laws so that the fetus the Supreme Court forced that woman to have will live past the fourth grade.

Numerous kids have been killed in school shootings all because of the severe lack of gun control in the United States. Kids easily can get a hold of a loaded weapon in numerous states and can easily get a hold of one through their parents and even just regular gun stores just because an individual turned 18 years old.

But the U.S., despite this, has not cracked down on gun laws, making it easy for these children to get a hold of guns, and instead has actually doubled down on their ability to bear arms because, in the other side’s opinion, the public’s right to bear arms is the one thing stopping the government from becoming a tyranny, which I think is wrong.

All women should have the right to choose their life’s path, including whether to have an abortion. Thus, the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade is wrong and unconstitutional.
