Learn new languages at the library

Community members can enhance their language-learning goals by using the Rosetta Stone Library Solution, which is accessible by using their Simi Valley Public Library card.

Rosetta Stone can be used to learn a new language, advance ESL learning for non-native English speakers, or to brush up on a language for travel,

“The cool thing about Rosetta Stone is that it doesn’t ask you to translate,” said Jeremy Scarlet, adult librarian. “But rather it pairs images with words or grammatical concepts so that you learn the foreign language in a way that is more similar to the way you learned your native language.”

The award-winning interactive approach has been used by millions of learners around the world and can be accessed anywhere and at any time from the library’s website via the e-resources page. Thirty languages are available and free with a Simi Valley Public Library card.

Learning is structured around core lessons to build reading, writing, speaking and listening skills and also includes activities to refine grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation.

Patrons can also take advantage of available mobile apps that enable learners to reinforce their language learning anywhere.
