4-H kids build bears, bridges

‘BEARY’ THOUGHTFUL—Members of the Conejo Simi 4-H Club collected Build-a-Bear stuffed animals for children living with their mothers in a battered women’s shelter. The group will present 33 bears as Christmas gifts for every child currently in the shelter. The club was excited about the project and experienced a heartwarming moment when a woman with a small child approached them and said, “I know what this is all about. We received one of your bears last year for Christmas.” The grateful woman, now in a stable situation, then donated a bear back to the cause, helping to demonstrate that the bears make a difference to children in need.
