Looking forward to 2018 fair

On Sat., May 13, the Simi Valley Chamber of Commerce was extremely proud to host its 40th annual Simi Valley Street Fair on Cochran Street between Galena and Sequoia.

The street fair is one of the largest community events in Simi Valley, with an estimated 20,000 attendees and over 300 local businesses, food vendors and crafters. This year’s event also featured a beer garden, car show, kids’ fun zone and fabulous live music.

As a newcomer to the area, I met many community and business leaders at the street fair and experienced the warm and welcoming feel of the city. In fact, I am looking forward to becoming a Simi Valley resident myself this summer. I am honored to lead our local Chamber and host this great, family-oriented event, which has such a profound impact on the success of local businesses and organizations in our fine community.

It takes hundreds of hours and as many volunteers to put on an event of this magnitude. On behalf of the Chamber, I want to thank all the volunteers who took the time to help out, the sponsors who continually support our important mission at the Chamber, and our amazing and talented staff, who work very hard every day to bring our many exciting programs and events not only to our valued Chamber members, but to our entire community.

I am also very thankful for the strong partnership between the Chamber and the city. The Emergency Expo, which is organized by the city, has always been a great addition to the street fair, and this year was no exception.

Last but not least, I am grateful for the support of the Simi Valley Family YMCA for allowing us to extend the kids’ fun zone onto their property.

We are already looking forward to next year’s street fair, which is sure to be just as enjoyable and will feature some new and exciting additions. And we hope you are, too. Next year’s street fair will be held Sat., May 12. We look forward to seeing you.
