New director on board at library

Thank you for mentioning the Simi Valley Public Library in the Acorn. As the new director, I am very pleased to be part of the ongoing work that the City of Simi Valley and all of the library staff team members have been doing so well.

The library was filled Monday morning with many community members: parents and grandparents who have brought children to story times presented both in English and in Spanish, seniors finding reading material, clusters of adult-care groups, homeschooling families working on projects, computer users finalizing their tax submissions, and more.

I’m excited to be on board here for the final preparations of the “Summer at Your Library” program, which will begin with a launch concert on the evening of Thurs., June 15.

Summer reading programs offered by libraries all over the country are vitally important in the effort to maintain reading fluency while students are on summer break. Simi Valley residents are fortunate to have talented library staff who have put a great deal of work into the summer program, which welcomes readers of all ages.
