Shave your head, help cure cancer

Luxe Hair Salon, Studio and Spa will host the inaugural “805 Shaving for the Cure” head-shaving event to benefit the St. Baldrick’s Foundation from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sun., April 23 at 2944 Tapo Canyon Road, in the El Paseo Simi Plaza.

The event will have raffles, vendors and a children’s craft corner.

The foundation is a volunteer-run charity raising funding for research to find cures for childhood cancers and to support survivors.

What started as a challenge between three friends in 2000 has grown into the world’s largest private funder of childhood cancer research grants.

Every two minutes a child is diagnosed with cancer worldwide. Childhood cancer is the No. 1 disease killer of children in the United States.

Participants can donate, form a team to raise money, or stop by the salon that day to sign up, donate and shave.
