‘Under the Rainbow’ dance is all about inclusivity
The Newbury Park Gay- Straight Alliance, in conjunction with the GSAs and allies from Thousand Oaks, Westlake, Agoura, Oak Park, Camarillo and other area high schools, will sponsor the fourth annual “Under the Rainbow: A St. Patrick’s Day Dance” from 7 to 10 p.m. Sat., March 18 at the Thousand Oaks Teen Center, 1375 E. Janss Road.
The dance is open to all local high school students with a valid ID, not just LGBT teens, to promote friendship and community.
Local bands Polylane and Girl Next Door will perform. Pool and other games as well as face painting and glitter tattoos will be available.
Tickets are available in advance through school GSA members for $5 or at the door for $7. Ticket price includes pizza and a beverage.
“Our local GSAs promote tolerance and understanding among all students, and we wanted to celebrate that understanding by hosting a dance for everyone,” said Doug Pollock, founder of Marmonte GSA.
