Committee tasked with reviewing grants
Deadline to submit application is March 22
The City of Simi Valley is currently accepting applications for one community at-large position to serve on the Community Projects Grant Review Committee.
The grant program is funded through an agreement with Waste Management. There is annual funding of up to $150,000 available for local 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations to request in support of community projects and programs. The funding is disbursed at the discretion of the City Council.
The City Council recently created the committee to review funding requests and make recommendations for its consideration. The committee will consist of one representative from each of the four Simi Valley Neighborhood Councils, one representative from the Council On Aging, one representative from the Youth Council, and one representative from the community.
Applications are now being accepted for one community at-large position. Applicants will be interviewed by two City Council members and one applicant will be recommended to serve on the committee.
All of the CPG Review Committee representatives will be recommended for appointment at the April 3 City Council meeting.
Tentative meeting dates for the committee have been scheduled for April 18 and April 25. This timeline will allow the committee to review funding requests in April and present recommendations to the City Council in May.
The deadline to submit applications is March 22. Applications may be submitted online at www.simivalley.org/cpgreviewcommittee.
Interviews for the community at-large position are scheduled for 5:30 p.m. March 29. For further information about the CPG program, visit www.simivalley.org/projectsgrant or contact the community services department at (805) 583-6864.
