Salon holds blood drive in honor of young fighter

Coco Beach Tanning Salon will host a blood drive with Children’s Hospital Los Angeles in honor of 5-year-old Hazel Hammersley of Simi Valley from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thurs., Feb. 16 at the salon, 1720 Los Angeles Ave., Ste. I, Simi Valley.

Children’s Hospital will bring its blood donation bus to the salon. The event will have vendors, food, raffle prizes and a silent auction.

Hazel, daughter of Aaron and Lauren Hammersley, is one of five siblings. She was diagnosed with high-risk neuroblastoma in April 2013 and declared cancer-free a year later. But in August 2016, she relapsed and is now receiving cancer treatment for a second time.
