Royal High’s boys’ basketball team defeated crosstown rival Simi Valley 67-60 on Jan. 20 on the road.

Jacob Magdaleno, a senior forward, led the way for the victorious Highlanders by posting 17 points and 12 rebounds.

Teammate Anthony Goring, a senior guard, had a solid all-around game. Goring notched 12 points, seven rebounds and five assists.

Tim Andreolli dropped in 17 points for the Highlanders, who are 11-12 overall, 2-2 in the Coastal Canyon League. Royal plays at 7:30 tonight at home against first-place Oak Park (17-6, 4-0).

Max Edwards paced the Pioneers with a game-high 25 points in the setback. Teammate Jacob Grebeta tallied 19 points and eight rebounds. Bryant Farmer had eight points and six assists.
