Individuals honored for service to education
The Simi Valley Education Foundation will honor the Lew Roth Award recipients of the 2016-17 school year at a dinner at 6 p.m. Fri., Jan. 27 at the Grand Vista Hotel, 999 Enchanted Way, Simi Valley.
The foundation was formed in 1989 by Lew Roth, a Simi Valley school board trustee for 23 years.
This annual dinner recognizes individuals for extraordinary service to the students of the Simi Valley Unified School District.
The recipients of this year’s Lew Roth Awards are:
Management: Maxine Fowles, Sinaloa Middle School.
Certificated: Dianne Brunner, Wood Ranch Elementary.
Classified: Starlie Espinoza, Simi Valley Unified School District.
Special Education: Christine O’Brien, Mountain View Elementary.
Volunteer: Marcela Ponce, Township Elementary.
Lifetime Achievement: Mary Ann Fiore, Atherwood Elementary, and Robin Hunter, Berylwood Elementary.
Legacy Award: Waste Management.
