Many enable schools to thrive

Since November, I’ve enjoyed the many expressions of gratitude in the Acorn’s letters to the editor section. In my experience, we have always been and will continue to be a thankful community, but seeing the weekly letters of thanks provides a great reminder to make it a daily practice to express appreciation each day.

In that spirit, I would like to thank Superintendent Jason Peplinski for his continued leadership and hard work in our schools. Dr. Peplinski and I started in our respective roles on the same day, and it has been a pleasure to see the many great things coming to our students these past few years as a direct result of his leadership, fortitude and vision. I am not only grateful for Dr. Peplinski’s effort, but also for his friendship.

I would also like to express my sincerest appreciation to the district administration leadership team for their continued efforts to revitalize and support our school sites each day.

Thank you to the Teachers on Special Assignment (TOSAs) and to all of our school site educational staffs across the district for continuing to create better outcomes for each student every day.

I am thankful to the many Simi Valley educators who have welcomed me to participate in their weekly educator chat via Twitter at Simi Valley Teacher Chat #SVTCHAT. Being able to participate and gain additional perspectives on a weekly basis has helped in so many ways during my time on the board.

Thank you to the PTA/PTSA volunteers, the Simi Valley Education Foundation, the Simi Valley Police Department, the many businesses and nonprofit organizations that support Simi schools. Having the ongoing support of so many selfless residents and organizations each day enables our schools to thrive.

And, it is with the deepest deference and humility that I thank Simi Valley for the opportunity to participate. I am proud and thankful for the progress the school district is making. It is in large part due to the giving spirit of so many in our community.
