Simi man continues service on student aid commission
William Gregory Sawyer, vice president of student affairs at California State University Channel Islands since 2002, has been reappointed by Gov. Jerry Brown to the California Student Aid Commission.
Created in 1995 by the state Legislature, the 15-member commission works to make education beyond high school financially accessible to all Californians, according to its website.
Sawyer, a Simi Valley resident, is a member of the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators and the Association of College Personnel Administrators. He holds a doctorate degree in higher education administration from the University of North Texas.
Sawyer’s reappointment to the commission must be confirmed by the state Senate. The compensation for serving on the commission is $100 per day when on approved official business, the governor’s office said in a news release.
