Jasmin Grewal of Simi Valley has matriculated as part of The Citadel’s Class of 2020, the largest recorded freshman class in the history of the college in Charleston, S.C.

The Citadel, founded in 1842, offers a classic military college education for young men and women. Graduates are not required to serve in the military, but about 30 percent of each class commission as officers in every branch of U.S. military service.

The incoming class of more than 800 new cadets represents 36 states and seven foreign countries.

Caitlin L. Berreitter, daughter of Erin and Michel Berreitter of Simi Valley, recently matriculated as a first-year student at Hamilton College in Clinton, N.Y.

Berreitter, a graduate of Simi Valley High School, was selected from a pool of 5,230 applicants and joins a class of 475.

Hamilton College is a residential liberal arts college.
