White Oak celebrates student creativity

White Oak Elementary PTA will host a Student Art Night at 6 p.m. tonight, Fri., Sept. 23 at the school, 2201 Alscot Ave., Simi Valley.

The free event will kick off this year’s Reflections art program.

Reflections is the national PTA art program that encourages students of all ages and abilities to reflect on a theme, create artwork and be recognized.

At the event students will be given art supplies and materials and encouraged to explore various art mediums.

The six centers will cover visual arts (painting on canvas, sketching), dance (learning how to teach choreography), music (live jam session with Santa Susana High School students), film production (viewing student-produced short films), literature (tips on poetry) and photography (viewing gallery of past Reflection winners).

This year’s Reflections theme is “What Is Your Story?”
