Grants benefit high school music programs

The Ventura County Arts Council, Musicians on a Mission California and The Collection at RiverPark recently established a grant program to benefit public and private high school music programs in Ventura County.

The funds assist high schools in purchasing instruments, sheet music, uniforms and educational tools. In addition, many of the grants help students in need of financial assistance to participate in music programs.

The Rock the Collection Summer Concert Series in Oxnard last summer raised $5,000 that was donated to the cause.

The following local schools in Ventura County received grants for the 2013-14 school year: Adolfo Camarillo High School in Camarillo, Royal High School in Simi Valley and Thousand Oaks High School.
