Peter Foy Jr., son of Ventura County Supervisor Peter Foy, was arrested Friday on suspicion of several felonies, including money laundering and selling oxycodone pills across state lines, according to sheriff’s officials.

Foy Jr., 34, is suspected of mailing “significant” quantities of prescription painkillers, including Oxycontin, to Lexington, Ky. and receiving large amounts of cash in return, according to a press release from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.

It is believed Foy Jr. laundered the cash he received from the drug deals through his bank account for at least three years, police said.

The Simi Valley resident is facing multiple felony charges, including transporting a controlled substance across state lines, sale of Oxycontin, conspiracy, burglary and money laundering. He is due to be arraigned Tuesday.

According to the sheriff’s office, the Ventura County Combined Narcotic Task Force (VCAT) launched a criminal investigation into Foy Jr. in November 2012 after receiving an anonymous tip that he was selling drugs in the county.

Then, in January, a narcotics task force from Los Angeles County notified VCAT that a large amount of money was seized in the mail sent from Lexington and addressed to Foy, police said. A K-9 allegedly smelled drugs in the package.

On June 6, the Lexington Police Department served a search warrant on a home and found evidence that several packages containing cash were shipped from the residence to Foy within the last year, according to the police report. In the same month, the U.S. Postal Service seized another package meant for Foy allegedly containing large amounts of money.

Foy Jr. is currently being held on $500,000 bail and his arraignment is scheduled for Tues., Aug. 20 in Ventura County Superior Court.

In July 2012, the supervisor’s son was sentenced to six months in jail and three years probation after pleading no contest to conspiring to manufacture a human growth hormone used by bodybuilders.

Peter Foy Sr. represents Simi Valley, Moorpark, Santa Susana Knolls, Box Canyon, Chatsworth Peak, Home Acres, Sinaloa Lake, and Tierra Rejada Valley on the county Board of Supervisors. He was elected in 2006 and reelected in 2010. He is the current chair of the Board of Supervisors.
