Playoff push starts now

Coming off its most successful regular season in program history, the Royal High boys’ basketball team is ready to make major noise in the CIF-Southern Section Division 2AA playoffs.

The Highlanders (20-6), second-place finishers from the Marmonte League, play host to A.B. Miller (12-13) tonight at 7 in a first-round matchup. RHS is seeded seventh in the Division 2AA bracket.

Competing in the same division, Simi Valley (13-13) travels tothird-seededJ.W.North(21-5)fora7p.m.tipoff.

In girls’ soccer, Simi Valley defeated Sonora 1-0 in a Division 2 wild-card match Wednesday. The Pioneers play at Peninsula this afternoon. Royal’s girls are also in action in the Division 2 soccer playoffs. The Highlanders are on the road today at Dos Pueblos.

Frontier League champ Grace Brethren is home today against Palm Springs. Girls’ soccer matches are slated for 3 p.m.
