Storyteller sharing tales at library

The Reagan Library will host Ventura storyteller-writer Jim Woodard for free storytelling programs at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Presidents Day, Mon., Feb. 20, at 40 Presidential Drive, Simi Valley.

Woodard, the library’s resident storyteller since 1995, will describe the design and making of the first American flag.

Recipient of the George Washington Award for Excellence in Public Communications from the Freedom Foundation at Valley Forge, Woodard also received the President’s Award for Outstanding Volunteer Service from the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. He’s taught courses at Ventura College on the art and value of oral storytelling.
