Family seeks its cherished gift

On Thanksgiving weekend we had a visit from another kind of turkey—the person or persons that stole our one-of-a-kind mailbox. Said mailbox was a gift from our children to their father 30 years ago. Anyone familiar with Smith Road will remember the bright yellow tractor mailbox; it was the road sign for many happenings, from new friends to this area to car rallies.

If the people involved could find it in their hearts to return the mailbox, to right the wrong that they have done and make a large family happy, we would be grateful with no questions asked.

I should probably add the mail delivery people are all aware of the theft and intend to watch for the box, and so does the police department. One offi cer mentioned the mailbox had been here since he became an officer and he seemed perturbed that it had been stolen. Julie and Jerry Willingham Simi Valley
