Suspect sought in bank heist

Police are on the lookout for a suspect who robbed a bank branch inside a grocery store last weekend.

At about 4:30 Sunday afternoon, officers responded to a report of an armed robbery that had just occurred at the U.S. Bank located inside the Albertsons supermarket at 5135 E. Los Angeles Ave, a police report said.

As told to authorities, the suspect used a note to demand money. Although the man claimed to have a handgun, he did not display it.

After the bank clerk gave the man the money—estimated to be $2,100—the man fled on foot.

Using patrol officers and police canines, the Simi Valley Police Department searched the area for the suspect but he was not found. Police are now seeking the public’s help in finding the suspect, described as a white male, 20 to 30 years old, 5 feet 7 inches and about 160 pounds.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Simi Valley Police Department at (805) 583-6950. Anonymous tips can be made by calling the Ventura County Crime Stoppers tip line at (800) 222-TIPS or by texting “BUSTED” plus a message to CRIMES (274637).
