Simi police nab trio in connection with local burglary
Three men from Los Angeles were arrested on Jan. 18 in connection with a burglary at Shiva Associates.
Simi Valley police officers responded to the company at 4115 Guardian St. to investigate a burglary alarm. Upon arrival officers confirmed that a burglary had occurred and received a possible suspect vehicle description.
A short time later the suspects— Rene Aguilar, 32; Mario Beltran, 21; and Graciela Hernandez, 21, all of Los Angeles— were located and arrested as they were traveling east on the 118 Freeway just west of Kuehner Drive.
Investigation revealed that the suspects came to Simi Valley from Los Angeles and stole a cargo van from a local business. The suspects used the van to smash through the roll-up door at the burglary site. The suspects entered and took computer and video equipment.
They then fled, abandoned the van and were subsequently seen while trying to leave Simi Valley. The officers later found the stolen van.
All three suspects were booked for burglary and conspiracy to commit burglary. Two of them were also charged with vehicle theft.
The estimated value of the recovered property was $1,500.
