Impact of E-Verify being overstated
Kurt Jaeger’s “Enough with exaggerations” letter in the Aug. 27 Simi Valley Acorn hits the nail on the head.
How many elections do we have to put up with all these exaggerations from politicians?
Why can’t these people just level with the community instead of blowing information out of proportion. No wonder nothing ever gets done.
I looked no further than this very same Acorn edition and found another E-Verify article where Bob Huber states that he believes E-Verify “will help thousands of people who are out of work in the city.” Thousands? As in, at least 2,000—and Mr. Huber has the data to back this up?
Incidentally, cities such as Palmdale, Lancaster, Mission Viejo and Temecula, which the Huber campaign touted for using E-Verify, do not report thousands of jobs for out-of-work citizens in their respective communities. So where is Huber getting this information? Why is he purposely putting out so many exaggerations on E-Verify and other topics?
In the end, we need leaders who level with the community they seek to serve.
I, for one, have had enough of the exaggerations from the likes of Enron, Washington Mutual, the state of California and Washington, D.C. I know it never ends well.
During these serious times, we just can’t afford exaggerations in the mayor’s office. We just need straight talk without the spin.
