Class offered for loved ones of those with mental illness

National Alliance on Mental Illness Ventura County is offering a free 11-week course from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on Wednesdays at Calvary Community Church, 5495 Via Rocas, Westlake Village. The first class has already met.

The course is for family members, partners and friends of individuals with major depression, bipolar disorder (manic depression), schizophrenia and schizo affective disorder, panic disorder and obsessive compulsive disorder, and co-occurring brain disorders and addictive disorders.

The course is taught by a team of trained NAMI family member volunteers who have a loved one struggling with one of these brain disorders. It will also meet in Ventura from 6:30 to 9 p.m., starting Thurs. Sept. 9 at ARC Ventura County, 295 S. Arcade Drive.
