Simi Valley Education Foundation selects next board

The Simi Valley Education Foundation has named its new 2010-11 board of directors.

The executive board members are president, Brian Iverson; president-elect, Karen Stewart; vice president, Carol Richards; treasurer, Jill Haney; secretary, Lulu Means; and past president, Cathy Carlson.

New to the board are David Gersh and Mike James.

Current board members are Glen Becerra, Laura Berger, Ro Curry, Michelle Foster, Paul Goodnough, Kim Holden, Bob LaBelle, Mike Lewis, Allan C. Mann, Leigh Nixon, Kate O’Brien, Dr. Ron Resnick, Jim Riley, Michelle Scharf, Dr. Kathryn Scroggin, Kristin Tignac, Kevin Underwood, Mark Upson and Leticia Wilson.

The foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising funds to enhance the instructional education of students in the Simi Valley Unified School District.

The foundation provides enhancement grants to educators and scholarships to students, and matches fundraising dollars at the secondary schools.

The money for these programs are raised through the annual Celebration of Education Gala, Tee Up for Kidz Golf Tournament, ewaste recycling days and the Affinity Partners program.

A new fundraising activity this year, Jail & Bail, is planned for Oct. 6.
