Like most of my friends and neighbors, I am worried about America’s open borders and the threat that illegal immigration poses to our economy and increasing crime.

Bob Huber’s letter in the July 23 issue of the Simi Valley Acorn about the city using E-Verify really impressed me.

It’s a very simple thing to use this tool that is already available to ensure Simi Valley only hires people who are legal. The city could set a great example for all local employers by using E-Verify.

It’s already a requirement for cities that receive federal contracts, but they only have to verify new employees hired to work on those contracts. Why not verify everyone when it costs nothing?

This is a great example of how we would benefit from a mayor who is a true leader, one that brings a fresh perspective and challenges business as usual at city hall.

This is just one of many examples of why I’m supporting Bob Huber for mayor.
