California PUC not working for public

A couple of weeks ago I read where the Newhall Ranch project of 20,000 homes and lots of commercial and retail development was moving forward.

Instead of worrying about what Arizona or Abby are doing, maybe your thoughts and letters would be better spent focusing on our water shortage problems.

The fact that the Newhall project can’t go forward without proving they have enough water was not in the article. Where are they finding this precious resource that we had to cut back 15 percent of our usage on and pay more for less?

I seem to recall reading that we are going to continue this cutback even when the drought is over. So we cut back and pay more to compensate for the water companies’ lost revenue, and then they sell that 15 percent to Newhall, thus getting double the money. What clever people they are.

They know, like everything else, people can be distracted by the stupid things and they can hoodwink a distracted public. Remember, it only takes a majority of customers to say no to increases and anything else they try to do.

The California Public Utilities Commission should be working for the public.

Complain often. It’s your right.
