Boutique to benefit counseling center

The Simi Valley Center for Biblical Counseling will have a fundraising boutique from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sat., July 31 at NewHeart Foursquare Church, room 5, 4200 Township Ave., Simi Valley.

Boutique tables will include Blessings Unlimited by Dayspring, Joy Filled Ministries information and book table, Beauti-Control Spa Parties and CookieLee Jewelry.

All proceeds will benefit the nonprofit counseling center in its work to provided the community with low-cost, biblical counseling.

Acorn columnist will host workshop

Author and teacher Dennis Merritt Jones will present a fourpart class on “Creating Relationships That Work” from 7 to 9 p.m. Mon., Aug. 2, 9, 16 and 23 at the Center for Spiritual Living, 880 Hampshire Road, Westlake Village.

Jones will also speak at the center’s 10 a.m. service Sun., Aug. 1.

The classes are based on the book “The Four Agreements.” The program will help participants to enhance intimacy with a significant other, identify and heal the energy of an argument before it happens, deepen communication skills, bring new energy to work relationships, increase selflove and respect, attract likeminded people and integrate spirituality into every relationship.

The cost is $80 for the classes.

Holy Trinity Lutheran Church will present a weeklong Vacation Bible School day camp for children entering kindergarten through sixth grade from Aug. 2 through 6 at the Honey Tree Early Childhood Center on the church campus, 1 W. Avenida de Los Arboles, Thousand Oaks.

The program will meet from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and from 9 a.m. to noon Friday.

The Evangelical Lutheran Church of American Outdoor Ministries team from El Camino Pines will lead the day camp with the theme “Keeping the Earth.” The programming includes Bible study, worship, crafts, singing and recreation.

Campers are asked to bring a sack lunch; drinks and light snacks will be provided. The cost is $100 per child.
