Water-saving workshop

The average California homeowner uses more than 60 percent of their water on landscaping. Simi residents can find out how to minimize their outdoor water use and still maintain an attractive yard by attending a free workshop put on by the city of Simi Valley and Golden State Water Company.

The event will take place Sat., Aug. 14 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Simi Valley Senior Center, 3900 Avenida Simi.

The water conservation landscape workshop will cover landscape and garden design, the benefits of using California-friendly plants, sprinkler system basics, and soil, fertilizer and watering requirements.

To register, call (805) 583-6420 or (800) 999-4033, or e-mail albertfrias@gswater.com or waterconservation@simivalley.org.
