On Monday, the City Council recognized six Simi Valley Police Department officers for their efforts in making drunk driving arrests.
Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) first honored these officers on April 23 for their commitment to traffic safety and the enforcement of DUI laws.
To receive a MADD Award, an officer must have made at least 15 DUI arrests during the calendar year.
Together, the six Simi officers were responsible for a total of 217 DUI arrests in 2009.
Those recognized for their DUI enforcement were officers Josh Lorencz, Howard Horwitz, Michelle McCollum, Jason Wilkinson, Steve Philbrook and Chris Hahesy.
Lorencz made the most arrests last year, booking 60 offenders for drunk driving.
