Active Adult Programs
The Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District presents the following programs for seniors.
Unless otherwise noted, activities take place at the Simi Valley Senior Center, 2900 Avenida Simi.

•Artist Kim Clarke will teach how to make pieces of art with mosaics in a four-week class from 9 to 11 a.m. beginning Fri., July 9.
Clarke will show the techniques of placing and grouping a variety of materials such as cut glass and tile. The cost is $40 and $15 for supplies.
•Adults can learn how to hoop dance using a large adult Hula Hoop in a seven-week class from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Saturdays starting June 26. The fee is $35.
•The games club meets from 7 to 9 p.m. every fourth Thursday.
Participants play board games such as Scrabble and Monopoly. The fee is $1 each month.
•The scrapbooking club meets from 3 to 6 p.m. Mondays and from 9 a.m. to noon Thursdays.
Participants should bring 10 pictures to create photo pages. Supplies are provided.
The cost is $5 per quarter.
•A trip to the Ventura County Fair will be on Tues., Aug. 10. Participants will board a deluxe motor coach at 9:45 a.m. at the senior center north parking lot and arrive at the fairgrounds in Ventura at 10:45 a.m., returning to Simi Valley at 5 p.m.
Fairgrounds admission will be free for seniors age 62 and up. Reservations are due by Aug. 3.
•A trip to the Apple County Jamboree at Riley’s at Los Rios Ranch will be on Sept. 29. Departure will be at 9:30 a.m.
Lunch will include barbecued chicken and tri tip, cowboy beans, potato salad, biscuits, pie and beverage.
Riley’s Montaineers will provide entertainment. Guests will have free time to visit the bakery or see a cider press demonstration.
The cost is $68. Reservations are required.
