School employee in Moorpark accused of raping student

Christopher Atkinson Christopher Atkinson Police have arrested a high school employee in neighboring Moorpark for allegedly giving a teenage student alcohol to drink and then sexually assaulting her.

Christopher Atkinson, 23, was arrested in front of his apartment building at 799 St. Charles Drive, Thousand Oaks, on June 1 and charged with three sexual assault felonies and one misdemeanor. He pleaded not guilty to all charges this week in Ventura County court.

Police say Atkinson met the 15-year-old girl at Moorpark High School, where she’s a student and he had been working since last year as a campus supervisor and a baseball coach. Police allege he communicated with her away from school using the social networking Internet site MySpace before bringing her to his T.O. home on May 26.

Atkinson was arrested and booked for felony rape by use of drugs, felony oral copulation by anesthesia or controlled substance, felony unlawful sexual intercourse and the misdemeanor of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

His bail was set at $100,000.

According to Ventura County Superior Court records, Atkinson had no previous criminal record.

Atkinson began as a campus supervisor in October 2009 and became assistant junior varsity baseball coach in December 2009, with both assignments running concurrently. His last day at MHS was Fri., May 28.

The duties of a campus supervisor are to observe and control the behavior of students and other people present on the school campus. Supervisors also are responsible to provide for the security and protection of pupils and school property, and maintain records and reports for the campus.
