His take on the Simi mayor’s race

It’s our duty and our right to evaluate those candidates running for public office and to determine why they are running and what we, as voters and citizens, can expect if they gain the position they work for.

I’ve spoken with Mr. Bob Huber and Councilmember Steve Sojka at length.

Mr. Sojka has served our city, one way or another, since he was a teenager.

He sits on boards and committees that work with our youth in sports, extra education programs, etc. He is the person most responsible for the widening of the 118 through Simi Valley.

His trips to Sacramento ensured that the widening not only would be done but be done sooner than planned, possibly averting a stoppage due to the state’s budget problems. Add to that feat the landscaping he secured for the freeway and we see what a true leader can accomplish.

Mr. Sojka co-chairs several committees that I serve on, and I find him to be professional and present a “we can do it” attitude when problems arise. Simi Valley will continue to grow responsibly under his stewardship as our mayor.

I looked for other candidates for City Council or mayor, but alas, no one presented themselves.

I pay more attention to those that seek me, rather than those that hand out balloons or buy full-page ads.
