New flagpole installed at Big Springs


GROUP EFFORT—Nearly a dozen Big Springs Elementary School sixth-graders work with Simi Valley Education Foundation president Brian Iverson and Councilmember Glen Becerra to haul a 30-foot flagpole up the hillside and erect it near the school’s assembly area on Wednesday. Becerra’s son, Nick, 12, raised the $1,800 needed to purchase and install the school’s second flagpole so students could salute at assemblies.
