Play critic was too harsh toward actor
Last evening I had the pleasure of revisiting “Camelot,” which I found most enjoyable. Previously, I had read Cary Ginell’s review (Simi Valley Acorn , May 14) and for the most part agreed with his comments.
However, I was extremely upset concerning the extremely caustic comments made toward one actor’s performance.
They were destructive rather than being constructive. Cary should recognize that these are young, aspiring performers hopefully starting off on their dream career for little or no compensation in Simi Valley.
To be sarcastically compared to Tom Cruise or denigrated serves no purpose other than to show the power of the pen, which at times can be destructive.
I don’t know what Ginell’s credentials are, but I would never compare his writing style or critiques to the excellence of Broadway critics.
