Simi Valley is home to the first distributor for the greater L.A. region of Card4Life, a personal medical records device.

Card4Life places personal medical records, passwordprotected, on a Windowsbased USB flash device with a Medic-Alert symbol to notify emergency personnel in urgent situations. The user can carry the device for access during an emergency.

Basic vital information is available to emergency personnel, but Social Security and insurance policy numbers are always protected. The user can decide what other data to keep password-protected.

The device can also carry X-rays, MRI scans, living wills and other documents.

The parent company is a Mesa, Ariz. startup. Steven Greenberg, a Simi Valley resident, is the first authorized distributor for the region.
