Venture Crew 9642 will host a Backpacking Adventure Program for beginning and experienced hikers, with backpacking trips and day hikes scheduled for May, June, July and August. Young adults ages 14 to 21 and their parents are welcome.

A planning meeting will be at 4 p.m. Sun., May 23 at 12200 Willow Hill Drive, Moorpark. The meeting will address backpacking equipment, clothing, meals and transportation.

An overnight six-mile backpacking trip to Bear Trap Camp in the Los Padres National Forest will take place Saturday and Sunday, May 29 and 30.

Venture Crew members take part in outdoor activities once a month, including a weeklong activity during the summer. Activities include rock climbing, snowboarding, camping, paintball and beach trips. Crew 9642 members live in Moorpark, Simi Valley and Conejo Valley.
