Real estate agent could get prison time for fraudulent deal
A licensed real estate agent from Simi Valley recently pleaded guilty to one count of felony grand theft and admitted to a special allegation of taking more than $50,000 in a real estate fraud.
John William Vanderwall, 46, stole about $65,000 from a Ventura County resident in a fraudulent real estate deal in 2007.
He previously paid $20,000 in partial restitution to the victim.
Vanderwall is scheduled for sentencing on July 20. He faces a maximum sentence of four years in state prison.
