‘Do they serve mouse in the clubhouse?’


IN-FLIGHT MEAL—A Great Egret takes off over Wood Ranch Golf Course after catching a mouse in the bushes beside the 17th hole earlier this year. The large birds, which can have wingspans up to 55 inches, are found from Oregon south to western Mexico and from Minnesota to the Mississippi Valley and the Southeast U.S. Their preferred habitats include fresh and salt marshes, marshy ponds, tidal flats and, apparently, golf courses.
