Low-income families can get help paying energy bills
2010-03-19 / Family
Community Action of Ventura County is offering financial help to low-income households through its Home Energy Assistance Program.
The agency has received its 2010 HEAP funding that pays for either one gas or one electric bill per year for families who qualify.
The nonprofit also has unused HEAP funds left over from 2009 that it can use through June to help those families that did not have the opportunity to apply during the 2009
calendar year. HEAP is for families with the lowest incomes that pay a high portion of their household income for home energy. Interviews are by appointment at the Community Action office at 621 Richmond Ave., Oxnard, and at other locations in Ventura County.
To set up an appointment or to receive an application packet, call (805) 436-4000. For more information, visit www.cavc.org.
