Active Adult Programs

The Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District presents the following programs for seniors.

Unless otherwise noted, activities take place at the Simi Valley Senior Center, 3900 Avenida Simi.

•The next Grandparent and Me class will be “Iris cookies and crafts” with Sue McElvogue from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Sat., March 13.

The fee is $5. •A class for spring crafts will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. March 23 and April 13 for a fee of $5 per class.

•Ceramic hand-building and introduction to potter’s wheel with Kim Calrke will be from 6 to 9 p.m. for seven Tuesdays starting March 23.

Participants will learn pinching, coiling and slab work.

The fee is $40 plus a $15 lab fee.

•Bill Conti will give a silver and turquoise jewelry making class from 2 to 4 p.m. for seven Fridays starting March 12. The fee is $50 plus a $15 lab fee.

•A trip to Ball’s Resort and Casino in Las Vegas will leave the Simi Valley Senior Center at 7:45 a.m. Sun., March 21 and return at 6 p.m. Wed., March 24.

The price of $190 (double occupancy) or $275 (single occupancy) includes four days and three nights and deluxe motor coach.

•The Temecula Wine Country Encounter will be on Fri., April 9. The bus will leave at 7:30 a.m. and return at 5:30 p.m.

Participants will visit the Temecula Valley Olive Oil Company and Leonesse Cellars for behind-the-scenes production and barrel room tour, wine tasting and lunch at the winery.

The trip concludes with a game of wine trivia, and dessert wine and chocolate paring.

The price of $81 includes deluxe motor coach transportation, tours, lunch, wine tasting and olive oil tasting.
