The music ministries of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Westlake Village, presents a joint concert, “Bringing Music of Faith to a Weary World,” with several church choirs and vocal groups at 8 p.m. Fri., March 5 at the Kavli Theatre, Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, 2100 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd.

The concert will present the West Coast premiere of “Psalms of the Passover” and “Missa Americana,” both composed by Ed Lojeski, who will conduct a choir of 200 voices.

The soloists are Heidi Cissell, soprano; Tracy Van Fleet, mezzosoprano; Darrell James Rowader, tenor; and Alvin Chea, bass, with Christine De Klotz on piano.

The chorus comprises singers and choirs from Oak Park High School, Westlake Village Voices, Westminster Presbyterian Chancel Choir, United Methodist Church of Westlake Village, Prescott Master Chorale, San Dieguito United Methodist Church and Gold Coast Concert Chorus.

The Westminster Festival Orchestra, under the direction of Bill Benson, will accompany the singers. The orchestra will also perform Aaron Copland’s “Variation on a Shaker Melody” and Ernest Bloch’s Concerto Grosso No. 1.

The “Psalms of the Passover” uses Psalms 113 through 118, which are sung during Passover celebrations. “Missa Americana” combines the classical Mass form with old and new American musical styles.

Tickets are $30 to $60 and are available at Westminster Presbyterian Church, the Civic Arts Plaza box office and ticketmaster.com. Proceeds will be used for music mission projects.
