Professional cartoonist Dave Boatman will teach a one-hour class to children about drawing pirate cartoons at 3 p.m. Sun., March 7 at the Simi Valley Library, 2969 Tapo Canyon Road.

The class is free.

The program will teach how cartoons are used in society, present warm-up and imagination exercises, provide drawing tips and demonstrate the various cartoon facial expressions.

The class will also showcase the work of two prominent cartoonists and feature a step-by-step followthe-instructor drawing period.
