Blues fest to rock at ranch

Rod Piazza and The Mighty Flyers’ blues quartet is one of the headliners at this year’s Simi Valley Blues Festival on Sat., April 17 at the Hummingbird Nest Ranch, 2940 Kuehner Drive, Simi Valley.

The annual charity concert is presented by Kiwanis Club of Simi Valley with proceeds benefiting the American Diabetes Association and other Kiwanis projects, including the Simi Valley Free Clinic, Samaritan Center, Boys & Girls Club and Senior Concerns.

Other performers for the fest are co-headliner Sista Monica Parker, Michael John & The Bottom Line, LA Jones & The Blues Messengers, Preston Smith, Artwork Jamal & The Acid Blues Band and Triple Threat.

Mickey Jones will be the celebrity master of ceremonies.

In addition to the music, the event will have a children’s play area, food and beverage vendors and craft booths featuring items created by local artisans.

A guitar signed by all the artists will be given away. 

Parking will be available at Simi Valley High School, with shuttle service provided to and from the ranch starting at 10 a.m. The festival will run from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Advance tickets are $20 for adults and $5 for children ages 8 to 12 with paying adult. Children under age 7 are free. At the gate the adult price will be $25.
