Residents sought to help oversee election

Applications are being accepted for the Citizens’ Election Advisory Commission, which consists of five regular and three alternate members who advise the City Council.

The commission works with city staff to review candidate and committee financial campaign statements, prepare candidate and committee orientation briefings and inform candidates and committees of state and local election code requirements. It meets approximately five times during an election year.

Any registered voter who lives within the city is eligible to serve, except for candidates, members of a candidate’s campaign committee or in support of a candidate, members of a ballot measure committee or city employees.

The commission is seeing two regular and three alternate members to serve four-year terms from May 11 though Feb. 28, 2014. One alternate member is sought to complete a partial term from May 11 through Feb. 28, 2012.

Application forms are available from the elections coordinator, 2929 Tapo Canyon Road, Simi Valley or by calling (805) 5836766 or can be downloaded from www.simivalley.org. Applications are due by 5 p.m. Wed., March 31.
