The parents of Ascension Lutheran Early Childhood Center will set up an outdoor nature center for the classroom program from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sat., March 6 at the center, 1600 E. Hillcrest Drive, Thousand Oaks.

The parents of the center’s preschoolers will volunteer their time to construct a small creek, install a manual water pump, plant fruit trees and expand a vegetable and herb garden in the preschool playground.

The project serves to promote a connection with nature for the preschoolers, offering them experiences through all their senses and stimulating creative thinking.

The center is a nonprofit organization.
