Simi High upperclassmen to witness staged DUI accident
Simi Valley High School will present “Every Fifteen Minutes” on March 3 and 4. The program encourages high school students to make good decisions regarding drinking and driving.
The event is sponsored by the school PTSA and is a community effort involving numerous agencies.
The program is funded by donations made by many businesses and organizations.
Juniors and seniors at the school will be witnessing a staged traffic accident set up on Stow Street on the east side of the school March 3.
The staged accident will have student actors who portray a drunk driver and passengers injured or killed in the collision. A follow-up assembly will take place in the school gym March 4.
The staged accident will include response by Simi Valley emergency professionals.
It is not the intent of the program organizers to cause any undue anxiety for community members who may be in the area at the time of the event.
The program will provide an opportunity for all parents and guardians, regardless of the ages of their children, to talk together as families about the importance of young people behaving responsibly and making good decisions.
