Lecture on Alzheimer’s for caregivers, search and rescue teams
The Thousand Oaks Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART) will sponsor a free seminar on “Alzheimer’s DiseaseWhat You Didn’t Know” on Sat., March 6 at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, Scherr Forum Theatre,2100 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd.
Registration will be from 7:15 to 8 a.m. with refreshments provided. The lecture will be from 8 a.m. to noon.
The guest speaker will be Kimberly R. Kelly, founder and director of the “PROJECT Far From Home.” The program is for all personnel associated with searching and caring for Alzheimer’s patients.
“Far From Home” is an education program for law enforcement, search and rescue volunteers, EMS and fire personnel about the missing risk on Alzheimer’s, dementia and elder care.
Kelly is a retired reserve deputy lieutenant and search and rescue specialist of the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department assigned to the training unit, SAR Academy and the sheriff’s department SAR Team.
Reservations are required and due by Thurs., Feb. 25.
