Active Adult Programs

The Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District presents the following programs for seniors.

Unless otherwise noted, activities take place at the Simi Valley Senior Center, 2900 Avenida Simi.

•Books and Movies will have a discussion of a book followed by a screening of a film that was made from the book from 7 to 10 p.m. Mondays.

Upcoming films are “To Kill A Mockingbird” by Lee Harper on Feb. 22 and “The Girl With the Pearl Earring” by Tracy Chevalier on March 29.

•A new games club meets from 7 to 9 p.m. the fourth Thursday of the month.

The winner of the night, based on points, receives a gift card to a fast-food restaurant.

A $1 donation is collected each month.

•The L.A. Today Tour and Grammy Museum will be on Thurs., March 11. Seniors will board the bus at the senior center at 9:15 a.m. and arrive back at 5:30 p.m.

The $49 price includes deluxe motor coach and guided tour of downtown Los Angeles of such sites as the Nokia Theatre, Staples Center, Walt Disney Concert Hall and Our Lady of the Angels Cathedral.

Lunch will be on your own at the L.A. Live complex.

Reservations are due by March 3.

•“Thursday Night Strippers” is a new quilting and chat club. Participants can bring their machine or hand projects.

Basic sewing supplies are required.

Sewing space is limited and is first come, first served.
